So Chattanooga's Mayor, Andy Berke, (tried to give) the boot to the Delta Queen. The laughable part of this is that the reason Mayor Berke asked them to go is because "they had complaints from some residents" Hmmm. So what about the complaints from residents who live in constant fear everyday with gang violence? I guess he will ask the gangs to leave too.

As a deeply religious non-believer (thank you, Einstein), I'm mostly amused by religious people's inane discussions about how many angels can dance on the head of a pin. It's when they wade into scientific knowledge about evolution that brings me out of my shell, especially when they're flat wrong. In a recent article on the right side of this paper, pastor Brian Cosby, claims that there is no evidence for "transitional" species which would demonstrate macro-evolution (no, a dog won't become a cat -- it doesn't need to, they're both successful species). But there is tiktaalik, a fossil that was found within the last 10 years, which clearly demonstrates the transition between fish/amphibians transitioning/evolving into land-dwelling four-legged creatures. Is that macro enough for you? Tiktaalik had fins and scales, so it could live in water, but it also had a neck so it could stick its head out of water and breathe. Fish don't have necks!
Another point that needs to be made: the creation of fossils is very difficult. Obviously, every squishy creature that ever lived didn't have enough stiffness to leave an impression in rocks. Tiktaalik demonstrates that we're still finding evidence for evolution. Pastor, keep thinking."

Lately it has become fashionable to say that the United States is not mentioned in the Bible.
Funny that the forefathers didn't think so. They called it "the Israel of God" and gave cities Bible names and declared we "have no King but Jesus." Rev. Pitt preached to Congress in the early 1800s a sermon called "The USA in Bible Prophecy." Notable circuit preacher Lorenzo Dow proved from Isaiah that the United States is the Israel of God and stated it would never perish, inspiring President Lincoln to say the same thing. As publisher of the "1822 History of the United States by Rev. Charles Goodrich," I think I have at least the equal authority to agree with the founders.
Any nation that sanctifies its laws and covenants around Deuteronomy: 28 may have such blessings. In 1620, this came to pass. Early Presidents swore in on this chapter. The Bible continues as our sacred text which demands the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. Contrary conclusions must be because these have no spiritual glasses. Or they lean too much on Babylonish tricks like multiculturalism.
