Twenty-seven-year-old man arrested on arson in connection with Alabama house fire

A 27-year-old man has been arrested for arson in connection with a fire Sept. 16 at a structure on County Road 81 near Dogtown, Ala.

Anthony Brandon Burt has been arrested and charged with arson second, domestic violence by strangulation, unlawful possession of controlled substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, according to a release from the DeKalb County (Ala.) Sheriff's Office.

Burt continues in the DeKalb County Detention Center.

The release said the Dogtown Fire Department had asked for officers at the scene of the Sept. 16 house fire with the circumstances described as being suspicious.

The release said an investigation showed the fire was intentionally set and that drugs and paraphernalia were seized.

Additionally, Burt was involved in an altercation with a family member on Sept. 18 and allegedly choked the victim, the release said.

Burt was taken into custody at the scene of the fire, it was stated.
