The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency on Monday awarded the Volkswagen plant in Chattanooga with its Green Power Leadership Award, which is given each year to the leading green power users.
Volkswagen Chattanooga is currently generating more than 13 million kilowatt-hours of green power annually from its 30-acre solar farm at the VW plant in the Enterprise South Industrial Park.
The solar farm generates about 12 percent of the power used in the VW assembly plant.
The Chattanooga VW plant is the first in the world to gain LEED Platinum certification for its energy efficiency and use of sustainable power sources.
Luther Anderson relocates offices
Luther Anderson PLLP, is moving into the Krystal Building.
The Chattanooga law firm is leasing 6,500 square feet and the move will put it in the heart of the central business district, according to Tom Kale, president of Commercial Associates, which handled the lease negotiations.
Russ Elliott, principal broker for building owner Luken Holdings, said he's pleased "to have a law firm of this caliber moving into the Krystal Building."
The 10-story building at 100 M.L. King Blvd., has 147,000 square feet of space, but some of that space is being vacated by the relocation of the Krystal Co. headquarers to an Atlanta suburb.
Luther Anerson has previously been housed in the 1100 block of Market Street.
