Car goes airborne along Highway 27; driver injured

The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office responded to a single-vehicle incident this evening in which a northbound Nissan Cube left the roadway on Highway 27 and went airborne.

Authorities said the driver traveled in the median near the 1160 block of Highway 27 for unknown reasons before hitting a rise, then landing in the 6200 block of Levi Road. The accident occurred around 6:50 p.m.

The female driver was taken to an area hospital, according to sheriff's office Public Information Officer Janice Atkinson.

The extent of the driver's injuries was not clear late Tuesday.
