Woman identified in fatal U.S. Highway 27 crash

photo The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office responded to a single-vehicle incident in which a northbound Nissan Cube left the roadway on Highway 27 and went airborne.

A woman has died from her injuries after her car left the roadway and went airborne in a crash on U.S. Highway 27 on Tuesday.

The driver was identified as 42-year-old Tonya Frizzell, of Soddy-Daisy, according to a news release from the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office. She was traveling north in her 2010 Nissan Cube at the time.

Authorities said Frizzell traveled into the median near the 1160 block of Highway 27 for unknown reasons before hitting a rise. The vehicle landed on its top in the 6200 block of Levi Road and rolled over. The accident occurred around 6:50 p.m.
