Landon Robbins

A benefit for a trust fund for Landon Robbins, the 5-year-old Rhea County, Tenn., boy who died after being made to ingest liquid soap and cigarette butts in August, will be held today at Thunder Creek Harley-Davidson.

Between 9 and 10 a.m., motorcyclists can register at American Cycles, 3208 Rossville Blvd., to ride in a poker run that will make two stops in Whitwell, Tenn., and three stops in Chattanooga.

For one poker hand, there is a $5 donation requirement.

Riders can get three hands for $10.

At 5 p.m., the ride will finish at Thunder Creek Harley-Davidson, 7720 Lee Highway, and there will be barbecue, live music and door prizes.

There is a minimum $5 donation for dinner plates. There also will be a bike show, with a $10 entry fee per bike.

The winner of the bike show will take half of the entry fees, organizers say.

The other half of the entry fees and all other donations will go into the Landon Robbins Benefit and Trust, a bank account set up with Southeast Bank and Trust in Spring City, Tenn., Landon's hometown.

Scott Parker, co-organizer of the event, said proceeds will go toward the costs of Landon's gravestone, grave plot and medical bills.

All leftover money will benefit Landon's two younger sisters, he said.

Parker said access to the bank account is limited to the medical examiner and attorney working with Landon's family.
