A handful of families in Red Bank are homeless after their apartment complex went up in flames Sunday morning.

The fire at Ravenscroft apartments on Midvale Avenue occurred sometime around 1 a.m. Fire officials believe the blaze started on the bottom floor of a three-story building.

Ten of the apartment units were occupied at the time of the fire. Deputy Fire Chief Brent Sylar says six units are heavily damaged.
