KNOXVILLE - The University of Tennessee will sell the New Norris House - a ground-breaking home in the field of sustainable living - in a sealed bid process for a minimum $155,000, the school announced Wednesday.

The modest and energy-efficient home was completed in 2011 as a modern interpretation of the 1933 homes built by the Tennessee Valley Authority as part of its Norris Dam project.

The 750-square-foot bungalow feels bigger than its blueprint. It's airy and open, with white walls and rich wood floors made of sustainable materials, efficient appliances, solar panels to heat water and a rain water collection system. A loft in the home adds another roughly 150 square feet of living space and a deck offers outdoor entertaining.
