More info on water sports
There was a 120-page color supplement book in the Chattanooga Sunday paper on March 30 called "FYI Chattanooga."
Among other things it has five pages on Outdoor recreational opportunities and has contact information on 36 sports. No mention about canoes, kayaks or SUP's (Stand Up Paddleboards). Wow!
What about a link to TVCC (Tennessee Valley Canoe Club) with over 300 members, or for rental trips via Outdoor Chattanooga, River Canyon Adventures, Unphiltered Kayaking, Chattanooga Nature Center, or L2 Boards for starters.
I'll bet there is more paddling activity and interest than for archery, badminton, bocce, boxing, lacrosse, lawn mower racing and rugby combined! Just saying!
Whose ring do we have to kiss to get in next year's book? Happy paddling, y'all.

Truth about climate change
I Googled "In their own words: 'Climate Alarmists Debunk Their 'Science."' Larry Bell gives direct quotes from "leading scientists."
In 1976, Stephen Schneider warned about global cooling, then later changed that to warnings about global warming. His global cooling warnings had failed to gain notice, so he established ways to panic the public about his new doomsday opinions.
"To do that, we need to get some broad-based support, to capture the public's imagination. That, of course, entails getting loads of media coverage. So we have to offer up scary scenarios, make simplified, dramatic statements, and make little mention of the doubts we might have. Each of us has to decide what the right balance is between being effective and being honest."
The IPCC was created by the United Nations and staffed by scientists with anti-American views. Leading scientists who disagreed with global warming studies were systematically marginalized and prevented from publishing by the IPCC's "scientific" community.
Among the alarmists are Timothy Wirth: "We have got to ride the global warming issue. Even if the theory of global warming is wrong, we will be doing the right thing in terms of economic policy and environmental policy."
The climate is always changing; otherwise, we would still be living in the Ice Age.

I read Dear Abby daily. But I recently learned that if I want to read all of a daily Dear Abby, I have to go online to Yahoo News, because the TFP only prints one of the three letters in her daily column.
Since you are raising my monthly subscription by 30 percent starting this month, how about printing all of the daily Dear Abby?

Do right for CSLA
Our County Commission has a rather unusual way of recognizing excellence. They choose, in their wisdom, to not only ignore success but rather penalize it. The decision not to build a new CSLA facility flies in the face of their public pronouncements of supporting quality public education. The current CSLA facility is rife with issues requiring expensive repairs.
In fact, it is an embarrassment to all of us, students, teachers, parents and the community at large. It has been thus for many years. My wife taught at CSLA for the last seven years of her life. She was a dedicated teacher, working with children at risk with their reading skills.
The only space made available for these children was an alcove beneath a stairwell near a rear door. There was no way it could be described as a classroom, and spoke volumes to the children and their parents of the low regard they were held in. If in fact the County Commission values education as a way for Chattanooga to grow, I urge you to reconsider the decision regarding CSLA. We need to recognize CSLA as a valuable asset as was the case when it was named a National Blue Ribbon school.
As my wife used to remind her kids, when given the opportunity, "do the right thing." I urge the Hamilton County Commission to stand up and be counted as really being behind all that is good with our schools!
