VW Golf makes Ward's list

Volkswagen of America said Thursday that its seventh generation Golf GTI was named by WardsAuto editors to its annual "Ward's 10 Best Interior" list for 2014.

The WardsAuto editors tested more than 40 vehicles and cited what VW called "the refined, upscale, and functional new interior" of the Golf GTI, which is completely redesigned and scheduled to arrive in dealer showrooms in June.

The Golf 1.8T and TDI Clean Diesel models will go on sale shortly afterwards.

"The seventh-generation Golf GTI uniquely captures the enthusiast heritage and DNA of the brand while artfully incorporating functional elements and user friendly technology," said Joerg Sommer, vice president of product marketing and strategy fort Volkswagen of America. "The refined GTI uses premium materials, world-class design, and innovation at a value that's hard to match."


Amazon buying comics company

Online retailer Amazon said Thursday it's buying digital comics company comiXology for an undisclosed sum.

Amazon said the acquisition will help it offer more and better digital comic books and graphic novels.

Founded in 2007, comiXology offers digital comic books from more than 75 publishers, including industry giants Marvel and DC, plus independent creators. ComiXology's headquarters will remain in New York.

Shares of Amazon.com Inc. fell $14.79, or 4.5 percent, to $317.amid a broader market sell-off.
