Lindsey Ward Erickson will be honored this evening and Saturday during Alumae Weekend as the 2014 addition to the Girls Preparatory School Athletic Hall of Fame.

The 1994 GPS graduate earned 17 All-America distinctions and five state championships as a Bruiser, and starting in 1990 she never finished lower than third in any event at a state meet. She was the 1994 USA Today high school swimmer of the year for Tennessee and still holds the GPS record for the 50-yard freestyle. She left with the 100 free record as well.

She went on to Illinois and was part of records in all five relays, and she is listed in the Fighting Illini's top 10 women's times for the 50, 100 and 200 free. She was a three-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree.

Before moving to Woodstock, Ga., with her husband and three daughters, Erickson coached the Ridgeside summer swim team for nine years.
