Chattanooga firefighters today quickly put out a porch fire of a Lookout Valley home, keeping it from spreading to the house.

The Chattanooga Fire Department said the fire at 4021 Kellys Ferry Road did about $5,000 in damage.

initially Connie White tried to put out the fire with water from pans, but then called 911 for help.

The fire was ruled accidental, a news release said.
