Assisted living center planned
Groundbreaking for a new $9 million assisted living community on Shallowford Road will be held Tuesday.
Morning Pointe of Chattanooga at Shallowford, at 62,000 square feet in size, will offer 77 assisted living apartments, said Greg A. Vital, chief executive of Independent Healthcare Properties and Morning Pointe Assisted Living.
The current building will undergo a $2 million renovation and become The Lantern at Morning Pointe Alzheimer's Center of Excellence with 60 units. The construction and renovation projects are anticipated to be completed in about nine months.
Groundbreaking will take place at 10:30 a.m. at 7719 Shallowford Road.
Mixed-Up-CupFrozen yogurt coming to Ooltewah
Frozen Yogurt will soon be around the corner for neighbors of Ooltewah's Cambridge Square development.
Mixed-Up-Cup is taking over a 1,500-square-foot shop in the mixed-use area, next to Wired Coffee.
"We expect a full-blown invasion of kids and families once Mixed-Up-Cup opens for business," said Jim Cheney, marketing director for Barrier Properties, which owns Cambridge Square.
Mixed-Up-Cup is owned and operated by husband-and-wife team Jorge and Rachelle Pecovsky.
Mixed-Up-Cup will offer 14 self-serve yogurt flavors and a 50-plus-item toppings bar. Also, the shop will offer fresh juices and smoothies made of organic and locally grown ingredients.
