Nineteen-year-old Antonio Smith reported to police early this morning that he had been shot in the thigh while walking on Water Street.
Chattanooga Police had gone to a local hospital after a report that someone had been shot.
Smith declined to offer details of the incident or suspect information, a news release said.
Chattanooga Police asked anyone with information to call 423-698-2525 or Crime Stoppers at 423-698-3333.
The investigation is continuing.
