It's been a great summer for Chris Robb after ending his University of Tennessee at Chattanooga golf career with All-America honorable mention. His third tournament triumph since returning to his native Scotland came Saturday in the final match of the 2014 Fairstone Scottish Amateur at Downfield Golf Club. Robb's eighth win in the tournament was 4 and 3 over Graeme Robertson in the 36-hole final with UTC teammate Liam Johnston as his caddie. Robb took a 3-up lead with 10 holes to play after three consecutive birdies, but Robertson trimmed the difference to one before Robb went 4 up with five holes left. "It's obviously awesome," Robb said in a UTC release. "It was a long week at Downfield, but to get a national championship under my belt is a huge accomplishment." His closest match all week was 3 and 1 in the quarterfinals, and the 36-hole final was the only time he played the 18th. He plans to participate in European Tour Qualifying School this fall, but he's got the European Amateur this week with Mocs teammates Johnston and Ewan Scott also in the field.

• Andrew Helms and Jake Whitaker of UNC Charlotte won the Carhartt Bassmaster College Series national championship Saturday on Lake Chatuge in northeastern Georgia with a three-day total of 38 pounds, 9 ounces. The tournament was based at Young Harris. As quoted in a B.A.S.S. release, "It's tough fishing out here. ... I've never worked harder in my life," said Whitaker, who grew up two hours from Chatuge and has fished there many times. "We should have more, but I lost two 3-pounders." Second-day leaders Zach Parker and Matt Roberts from Bethel University finished second with 38-1, and duos from Louisiana-Monroe, Tennessee Tech and New Mexico State completed the top five of Saturday finalists. A team from UTC finished 72nd Friday.
