Q & Brew benefits zoo

What: Barbecue, beer and a live bluegrass band were on tap July 26 for the annual Q & Brew at the Zoo. The family-friendly event gave guests the opportunity to view animals while on the zoo's grounds.

Clarke Power donates $25,000 to Ronald McDonald House Charities

What: Clarke Power Services Inc., a family owned and operated business based in Cincinnati with a subsidiary in Ringgold, Ga., recently made a $25,000 donation to Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Chattanooga. The company's corporate office annually selects one of its service locations to make a donation to the charity of its choice. Mark Andreae, president of Clarke Power Services, presented this year's donation to Jane Kaylor, RMH chief executive director.

About Clarke Power Services: It is a commercial vehicle maintenance provider with service industries at 29 locations in nine states.

Benefits: The donation will be used to refurbish the family check-in area at the Ronald McDonald House. Each year an average of 600 families find temporary lodging in the house to be near their injured or seriously ill children receiving treatment at nearby hospitals.
