The son of a career army officer, Bennett led a nomadic life, attending ten different schools before graduating in 1980 from the University of North Alabama with degrees in Art and History. +++WE PREACH JESUS CHRIST CRUCIFIED+++

Two of the greatest Statesmen I've ever known, Chuck Fleischmann and Weston Wamp ran powerful, exemplary races. As a U.S. Congressional Campaign Manager I observed very closely as these two gentlemen repeatedly gave respect and honor to my Candidate.

I assure all people of the great state of Tennessee that not one single one of us have lost. We are all victorious now that Chuck has gained the victory. We would also, just the same, all be victorious if Weston had won.

May I just respectfully request that we all give thanks to our Saviour Jesus Christ? Thank Him that we did have two commendable Statesmen, men of dignity and vision, from which to choose. These gentlemen give hope for all of our futures. America continues to be blessed!

Did the city council get the message that tax payers were against the ordinance that called for more frivolous spending by a city government elected to be good stewards of tax payer funds? There will be no negative consequences to the city with the rejection of the ordinance. The majority actually have no objection to any life style choice they just don't want to fund it.

This cartoon is a very accurate depiction of the contest. Chuck congratulated Wamp for a good campaign. Actually a good thing for the third district was Wamp had a very poor campaign with low quality ads that appeared to be created and produced by amateurs. Both candidates are seeking a career that pays well and has many benefits beyond what 99% of the public has an opportunity for. Congress has granted themselves compensation and perks to the point their primary objective is to retain their position instead of doing that which is in the best interest of the country.

Conservative, the consequences of fornication, adultery and Homosexuality are choices people make and are none of your business, it has no direct impact on anyone other than the person making the choice. However, it is not appropriate for tax payers to financially support any life style choice including traditional marriage however the city council is seeking popularity more than good fiscal stewardship. It is a fiscal issue not a physical issue.

Let's go back to the part where what people do in their own lives is not the business of Connie, regardless of his/her personal beliefs.

If God has a problem with anything that anyone does, he will most certainly address it directly with that person when the time comes.

It is not for people on Earth to impose their values on others.

Fairmon believes there should be no tax breaks for anyone who is married. Rather than to join the rest of America in seeking to be married, he wants to outlaw tax breaks for everyone else who is married.

That's not realistic, but everyone has their dreams.

Connie wants to be God. Connie wants to pass judgment on people who engage in homosexual sex. He/she doesn't seem to be concerned about other specific sins in scripture...just homosexuality.

Connie's dreams are also unrealistic. He/she believes that here, in this forum, he/she is God and does pass judgment on others.

Where do you people come from?

I understand the view from those clouds you believe you ride on, provide you with a good view, but it's time for both of you to come back to Earth.

Because believe it or not, Earth is where you reside and where you will remain for the rest of your lives.

What you both want and expect from people is ridiculous.

Gaussianteger has it right. In a year or two, any law that dictates morality will likely fall across the nation.

Marijuana will be the first prohibition to be dumped across the nation. States across the land are eying tax revenues, and you can bet that the lure of more money will triumph any morality concerns over pot.

State by State, marriage laws are being rewritten and it will be no time before Domestic partnerships will recognized. Benefits will be awarded, if not by employers, by insurers.

The moral majority is fast coming to be known as the moral minority. You're all going to be out-voted.

Of course, it will take more time in the Bible Belt to see those results, but they are coming, there is no doubt.

If you think "God is on our(America's) side" you are worshipping an idol. statesmen? commendable?? dignity??? vision???? gentlemen????? Good grief. On the lighter side at least we can say in Tennessee nothing has changed...

Because another wag above sez, "I want to thank the moral people of Chattanooga for not endorsing and funding... fornication, adultery and Homosexuality/sodomy with taxpayer money."

I guess she doesn't include the ordinances allowing bars, strip clubs and dance halls in her list of fornicating, adulterous, queer-loving civil endorsements by the local government that don't cost us anything.

And of course morality has nothing to do with it - as fairmon pointed out an economic vote.

I guess we should overlook the crazy idea that a government can pass a law forcing a person to comply with almost any physical restraint or denominational imperative (or go to jail), but can't change what is in one's mind. So much for using the government to enforce the slippery idea of morality.

On the lighter side at least we can say in Tennessee nothing has changed...she will keep thinking those nasty thoughts and go on with her self-loathing and judgment.

Then you'll have absolutely no problem digging in your Bible for so much as one DIRECT quote from God or his Son, condemning any one of those three.

Shall I be expecting your posting today, tomorrow, or ever?

"And God has made it plain in his word. There is no "if" about it!"

Connie, the Bible is not the word of God and you cannot continue to pass that silly lie on to people who have a functional brain.

The Bible was originally written by approximately 40 human beings, fully translated into approximately 518 languages and partially translated into approximately 2,798 other languages.

How many people were involved in such an undertaking? Hundreds, thousands, Tens of thousands, millions?

Words have been documented to have been mistranslated from ancient, expired languages to modern languages.

People have their own beliefs. You don't think that it is highly possible, if not probable, that personal opinions have made their way into various Bibles.

Have you ever been to Bible Gateway? Have you ever taken notice of the many different English versions of the Bible that are in existence?

Have you ever made a comparison of a sentence of scripture from one English version to another? If so, how many times are there vastly different interpretations of scripture? I've noticed hundreds of them myself.

One differing word can change the meaning of an entire sentence. People have attempted to educate you to this very stark reality many times, and you refuse to acknowledge it.

You are entitled to believe anything you want. What you are not entitled to do is to impose your beliefs on others, if yours differ from theirs.

That's what you do every day in here. You attempt to impose your beliefs on others, with little if any success I might add.

You're rude, you're abrasive, and this is strictly my opinion, but I find nothing Godly in any of your presentations. Where you received your religious instruction has remained a mystery, because you are so proud of it, you have kept it a state secret.

God does not require assistance from you. You're not winning any souls to appreciate what God is all about.

You really ought to be ashamed of the way you present God in this forum, but I doubt you have an ounce of shame in you.

You're to busy convincing yourself that you are God.

God gave us all free will. He does not empower you nor anyone else to intervene in free will. The more people like you attempt to intervene, the more ground you lose.

It is not, as you said earlier, more expensive for two people to live in one residence than it is for two people to live in two different residences. There is absolutely no moral justification for the discrimination against singles although I know it will continue since a majority can dictate to a minority.

Politicians and some people think the "American dream" is or has to be the same as they think it is or should be. Chuckie won only because of Wamp's age and inexperience. Wamp going to Mayfield's home and recording their conversation hurt him. In this day and age when people are suspicious of the government spying on its own people, the idea of someone secretly recording a private conversation leaves a bad taste in people's mouths. If Wamp had been more politically savvy and experienced he would have known not to do that. However, that being said for Mayfield to feign such disgust after it was his son who was caught slitting tires(like Fredo Corleone) of his opponent in the last election is so hypocritical to the point of being laughable. Taping a conversation is mild when compared to his son's criminal act.

It looks like Tracy's attacks on Des Jarlais didn't work. The Dems haven't lost anything there because they weren't the ones attacking DesJarlais.

No, Dems aren't angry because there is nothing to be angry about. BTW that ordinance you seem to be so happy about will still have to face a Court challenge. Just because the voters rejected it doesn't mean the Court will allow it. Just look at all the Gay marriage bans that have been shot down by the Federal Courts in some of the reddest states. It's just a matter of time before the ban is struck down in TN. So, enjoy your so-called victory today because it probably won't last long. LOL

It doesn't matter ibshame. He won, and Wamp lost. I didn't say anything about the general election, nor do I do I think he's anything special. But, he won and your cross over didn't work.

Drudge posts links to stories that the regular news media/democrat party controlled press would never show. He posts stories on there that are unfavorable to to both sides, many. You libs condemn him because he's a conservative, but you have problems with 99% of the regular media being registered Democrats, and liberals.

Double standard and hypocrisy.

Sour grapes because he's hugely successful and wealthy from it. But you have no problem with liberal media types being wealthy from what they do.

Teabaggers got used by the establishment Repubs because they thought the teabaggers could help them win back the White House. However, when the teabaggers put up the kind of candidates who did nothing more than embarrass the Repubs with some of the bat sh!t crazy stuff they said and did,the establishment Repubs no longer had any use for them.

Your dislike of Weston Wamp comes across as more envy than anything else. LOL

I'd be pretty unsettled by this primary if i were you. Let's see, your idol won by about 85 votes against a "youngster," you wasted $1.4 million that could have been used to help the disadvantaged trying to oust the democratic Supreme Court justices but failed, you won a popularity vote on city employee benefits that will most likely soon be made moot by the Supreme Court and you couldn't get rid of a Red legislator who violates all your gut level beliefs on abortion, family, and adultery. Go figure.

What do I care about Dick Morris? That's his opinion. I didn't agree with him. How does Dick Morris' opinion speak for everyone who doesn't like BO? He's just one pundit. I think highly of Romney, great guy, great American, solid man, everything BO is not, but he blew it all over the place. He didn't have the killer instinct and BO had the media on his side.

Do you honestly believe that? The GOP drug Romney through the mud in 2008. Let's just say this, if Romney would have campaigned on a platform similar to what he did as governor, he would have fared better. I (and I'm sure other independents) were turned off by the Conservative Romney of 2012. It was so contrived and phony. He also hung his hat on a Benghazi "Scandal" and bad polling by Fox News and other Conservative media outlets. I will say that Romney was by far the best of the pile of sh!tty presidential candidates the GOP had in 2012.

I understand the statement but don't agree with it. Those making the life style choice will reap the consequences. Consequences are not always bad, it only means the results. There will be no added measurable cost to tax payers because two people live together without the benefit a marriage license.

I am sure you are a proponent of marriage and subsidizing of marriage and kids through the tax codes and the various other means. That is one area you and alprova appear to agree on. Discrimination against those single is hypocritical and is the reason for seeking of domestic partner benefits and gay marriage. The initiative to gain approval for gays and unmarried partners benefits are a "consequence" of the discrimination against singles.

alprova and others can tell one how it is and why they think it should be that way but no one has offered valid justification for confiscating more from an unmarried person than married people with the same income. That is just the way it is or that is the way we have always done it is not justification.

I know the overt discrimination will not end without a rebellion from those single and that will not happen. The majority will keep taking advantage of the minority similar to the way blacks were taken advantage of for years. That playing field is still not level in many cases. Is the overt discrimination against singles Christian behavior? If the answer is that discrimination against straight singles is the Christian thing to do please educate me.

I agree there is added cost and I voted against the proposal and I do not think the city tax payers should pay for domestic partners or marriage partners just because an individual is employed by the city.

The point you don't seem to get is that the discrimination against all singles is the incentive for gays to pursue the right to marry and to why others want to insure domestic partners.

Read the post again please. Why do you support discrimination against straight singles? Is that the Christian thing to do?

the sinner sez, "We have flat taxes in sales taxes and gasoline taxes and millage taxes etc. but the big majority of people are greedy and envious and want someone's money so they insure we will always have a graduated tax system in income."

It is time again to edify the poor Christian sinner on her myopia, a cheerful giver she appears not, about Christian duty and correct the upside down position she espouses about graduated income tax. The focus is not what is in another's heart but what is in your own:

The Apostle says, 2 Cor. 8:8-15: "8 I do not say this as a command, but I am testing the genuineness of your love against the earnestness of others. 9 For you know the generous act of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, so that by his poverty you might become rich. 10 And in this matter I am giving my advice: it is appropriate for you who began last year not only to do something but even to desire to do something— 11 now finish doing it, so that your eagerness may be matched by completing it according to your means. 12 For if the eagerness is there, the gift is acceptable according to what one has—not according to what one does not have. 13 I do not mean that there should be relief for others and pressure on you, but it is a question of a fair balance between 14 your present abundance and their need, so that their abundance may be for your need, in order that there may be a fair balance. 15 As it is written, in “The one who had much did not have too much, and the one who had little did not have too little.”

hmmmm.....though Paul is specifically talking about the collection for Jerusalem (which the old girl will try to use to weasel out of it applying to her), the reference to Exodus 16:13-36 clearly makes this a generalized teaching on the obligation of all to give proportionately to one's wealth, and specifically that the wealthy Christian must support those with less. She could go to 2 Thes. 3:6-15. go figure.

Response: Possibly not. I didn't ask you to change it but for your opinion regarding the discrimination against those whose choice is to remain single. Do you support them being taxed at a higher rate and being the victim of around 1,000 other laws discriminating against singles by giving those married a break not available to singes.

There has always been tax unfairness and there always will be.

Response: I think that is called apathy. I repeat that is the way it has always been is not justification. It will continue to be if people don't react as aggressively as they do when they want those successful to pay more taxes so they can get more "free stuff".

I may be the only person in America who believes in a flat tax for all.

What about doing away with the income tax totally and replace it with a consumption tax as described at the site fair tax.org and as described in HR25 and SB13.
