Act II

about Clay Bennett...

The son of a career army officer, Bennett led a nomadic life, attending ten different schools before graduating in 1980 from the University of North Alabama with degrees in Art and History. After brief stints as a staff artist at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and the Fayetteville (NC) Times, he went on to serve as the editorial cartoonist for the St. Petersburg Times (1981-1994) and The Christian Science Monitor (1997-2007), before joining the staff of the ...

The dropping of food is one thing. Dropping bombs is another.

We are not the police department for the entire world.

Iraq was a cesspool before we went in there and they are still a cesspool.

Are we going to hear about a new terror group every month, now that we are out of Iraq?

I'm sorry, but my sympathy card is all spent. How can an entire nation of people be so unwilling to help themselves fend off extremists? Didn't the United States arm that nation and train them to defend themselves?

Why do they find themselves so outgunned by a rogue group of thugs?

There are some things I will never understand.

Can anyone tell the world what the US policy objectives are in Iraq? The US seems to now favor the Sunnis; the US just approved the purchase of purloined Iraqi oil from the Kurds; and now the US is bombing ISIS in support of the Shia government. It looks like the US goal is regional destabilization…plain and simple.

Better yet, is there any real excuse for the US to support or intervene in any country's internal affairs? Surely Americans can see the trail of misery left behind by almost every US foreign military foray. When is enough, enough? How can the US keep finding hundreds of millions to prop up a junta in Ukraine, Islamist militants in Syria, bombing (and who knows what more) in Iraq all while the US infrastructure crumbles and the country is adrift?

zab, BO appears to be supporting the emerging genocide against the residents of Donbass. Geopolitical objectives trump a little genocide every time.

Do you really favor fresh intervention in Iraq and to what end?

About time Obama stops campaigning, fund raising, golfing, and handing out welfare checks to be President for a change. Yes, the U.S. Navy and Air Force will be having some fun today bombing the crap out of some Godless radical Islamic terrorists. It really puts a nice bow on what a disaster Obama, Hillary, and now Lurch Vietnam Coward John Kerry have made of our Middle East foreign policy.

One thing for sure and this has been the case since the beginning of time..."The world will always be governed by the aggressive use of force. Our U.S. Military exists for one reason and one reason only to kill people and break things while defending American interests and preserving the freedom given by our Constitution."

I hope they have some cool videos of Arab terrorists being blown up! Cheers! Off in the black 1965 GTO to play golf. And Alprova.....air dropping food instead of bombs? Sooooo gay!

It is not possible to be "half pregnant". Get in or get out. Quit trying to use a small rifle or hand gun when a large gun would be the wiser choice. We play patty cake and insist Israel do the same. Arm Israel to the hilt and tell them to clean up the mess and with a lot of collateral damage there would be peace in middle east.

The U.S. has spent trillions of borrowed money trying to make chicken salad out of chicken droppings in countries that have a high percent of people that hate the U.S. A good experiment may be to get every American and anything connected with America out of the region and stop any trade or aid with any country in the middle east except Israel. Without the inflow of American dollars they would run out of resources quick or drain the finances of any country that tried to fill the void. Let them drink the oil and throw sand at each other.

sinner sez, "We have flat taxes in sales taxes and gasoline taxes and millage taxes etc. but the big majority of people are greedy and envious and want someone's money so they insure we will always have a graduated tax system in income."

It is time again to edify the poor Christian sinner on her myopia, a cheerful giver she appears not, about Christian duty and correct the upside down position she espouses about graduated income tax. The focus is not what is in another's heart but what is in your own: ===============================================================

Well now, you have become quite the pervert.

I am a cheerful giver to the Lord but I am not a cheerful taxpayer. Who is?

Where were your concerns as genocide was taking place under U.S. and allied occupation? If the truth was ever made worldwide public america and its allies would never be able to hold their heads up again as the angels of peace and compassionate good guys of war. Even the Abu Ghraib scandal dims in comparison to other atrocities at the hands of U.S. and their allies.

As for Clinton and the Rwanda genocide. You have western evangelicals to thank for that most horrific tragedy.

There's a difference between nation building and doing something that really needs to be done.

I don't agree with what we did in Iraq, it was a disaster. I don't know what kind of nation that is now, but I do know that ISIS is engaging in genocide.

Ki, Abu Graibe? Are you an idiot? Cry me a river. Screw extremist Islamists. How does Abu Graibe compare to genocide, which includes beheading and crucifying children? Screw your anti-American crap. I'm not talking about anything else now except this situation.

Or, have no involvement financial or otherwise and let them destroy each other. Remove anything American from every country in the middle east and north Africa. There would be little reduction in their population since they proliferate like rats or cock roaches.

Otherwise the two couldn't give a rats azz about what the people did to one another. In fact they're banking on the chaos they created in the first place just for the opportunity to get their hands on and control all those natural resources mother nature has provided in that region. Even the largest natural fresh water supply on on earth in the Horn of Africa.

I'm as tired as anyone of the crap that goes on over there, but there are decent enough people there who deserve to live. Those disposed to terrorism are a very small minority.

As a human being, I cannot just be so cavalier about the lives of others, even if I know little about them. What I do know is that most people over there are not terrorists.

"I know, we don't have leadership with the gonads to do that and they would not gain favor from their oil company contributors."

It's scary sometimes to what length you armchair warriors will go when pounding your chests.

To me, a leader is one who shows restraint and who ponders the value of acting every time before he or she does.

For weeks, the criticism was that President Obama is not doing enough and how sad it was that Christians were dying in Iraq. Now that he decides to do something, does that stop the criticism?

Hell no!! Some aren't going to be happy until boots are on the ground again, bailing out the wimps running that country.

I said and repeat build a defense and only attack another country if we are attacked. We have had and can have more fire power for defense than any country in the world. As I said withdraw totally anything and everything associated with the U.S. and close most of the 100+ military bases in other countries around the world. Those good people are surrounded by militant terrorist that will kill every American they can so they may be subject to being collateral damage if the terrorist attack us on U.S. soil.

My first choice would be to totally disassociate with every country in the middle east and north Africa by withdrawing anything with a U.S. connection. Spend the aid money and military money spent there improving our defense capability and only react should we be attacked. Instead of sending our young to be killed and crippled there let every American sacrifice by not buying one drop of imported oil from any county other than Mexico and Canada if they agree to also not import from those countries.

Difficult for sure but possible. Inconvenient for Americans? Yes but why should a few sacrifice a lot when all could sacrifice much less. So what if we have to walk, car pool, use public transportation or give up a few conveniences and luxuries.

Forty years ago today, Repubs got the distinction of having the ONLY President to resign from office before he could be impeached, put on trial for high crimes and misdemeanors and then removed from office for his participation in the Watergate debacle. For the last forty years Repubs have been looking for a way to to force a Democrat President out of office. They thought they had it done with the crap they threw at Bill Clinton but they were unsuccessful and it cost them dearly in the next election.

In 2000 George W. Bush was placed in the White House by the USSC. From the day that imbecile entered the White House along with his lying, scumbag cronies he looked for a way to lead an invasion into Iraq and get rid of Saddam Hussein.

When the country was attacked on 9/11, Bush and cronies used it as the perfect opportunity to invade Iraq. There was never ANY connection between Saddam Hussein and Osama Bin Laden but Bush and Co. did not let that deter them from their goal of invading Iraq. They told lie after lie about WMD's, mushroom clouds and any other lie they could tell to scare American Citizens.

In less than a year after the invasion it had become quite apparent there were no WMD's in Iraq and Saddam Hussein had nothing to do with the attack on 9/11. Then the lies switched to "they were bringing Democracy" to the Middle East. Bush and Co. destroyed the infrastructure of Iraq, killed hundreds of thousands of Iraqi civilians, destabilized their economy and opened the door for Al Qaeda to use the situation to recruit more terrorists.

Not only did Bush destroy Iraq but he damn near destroyed the United States in the process. The Economy tanked and the country was on the verge of a Depression that would make the GREAT DEPRESSION look like nothing more than a very bad Recession. If ever there was a President who deserved to be impeached and removed from office for high crimes and misdemeanors it was Bush.
In the meantime, Bush's war cost the lives of over 4000 U.S. soldiers, thousands more maimed for life and did nothing more than serve as a recruiting tool for Al Qaeda and every other off shoot terrorist group in the Middle East today. Today the majority of the problems in the Middle East can be attributed to the illegal, ill advised invasion of Iraq.

It is amazing to watch Repubs try to blame President Obama for the clusterf@ck that is the Middle East today. Now they would have everyone believe ISIS and all the rest of the terrorist groups are the result of President Obama's policies in the Middle East.

What has happened to this President is a damn shame. He had to come in cleaning up messes left behind by Bush and his scumbag cronies from Iraq to a failing Economy in the U.S. From the day he walked into the White House he's faced nothing but opposition from Repubs who are still looking to even the score for Nixon's resignation.
