Germantown's Tim Jackson, a member of The Honors Course in Ooltewah, won the Tennessee State Amateur golf championship for the sixth time Friday - and the second time in three years. At 55 years, six months, he became the oldest winner of the 99-year-old event with his final-round 71 and 1-under-par 279 for 72 holes at Memphis Country Club. University of Tennessee at Chattanooga golfer Zac Stolz tied for third at 284 with Knoxville's Davis Shore, two shots behind Oklahoma freshman Grant Hirschman from Collierville. Former Baylor School and Lee University player Matt Emery closed with a 69 and tied for 10th at 288, and fellow Franklin resident Taylor Davis from Lee's program shared 15th at 290, one stroke better than Chattanooga's Taylor Lewis and former Ooltewah resident Nick Blakely.

• Chattanooga golfer Keith Mitchell has an 8:05 a.m. tee time Monday in the 114th U.S. Amateur Championship at the Atlanta Athletic Club. The Baylor School graduate who went on to Georgia will begin on No. 1 on the Highlands Course on Monday. His group will start at 1:10 p.m. Tuesday on No. 10 on the club's Riverside Course. The field of 312 will be cut to the low 64 after 36 holes to begin six rounds of match play.
