Good Deed: Dog owner grateful for help during emergency

photo Knockwurst, the mini dachshund

Last month, while setting up the grill, I let my 16-year-old mini dachshund, Knockwurst, out for a potty break. Knockwurst is blind. I took her to the back of the house away from our in-ground pool. I turned my back for a minute to pick up a tray. When I turned back to the grill and didn't see her, I walked up the hill and saw something black floating. I ran and grabbed her out of the pool by the back of her legs. She was limp, and I was in a panic.

My friend began CPR, and we rushed her to East Ridge Animal Hospital. Dr. Knarr and staff tried to save her but could not. They told me to take my time to say goodbye. As I picked her up and held her in my arms I felt a heartbeat! The entire staff sprang into action, and a miracle happened.

My beloved Knockwurst is back home alive and well thanks to the staff at East Ridge Animal Hospital.
