I-75 lanes closed at exit 20

CLEVELAND, Tenn. - Work to replace the bridge and interchange at exit 20 on Interstate 75 in Cleveland is requiring the highway lanes to be closed on some nights this month.

Lanes will be closed for safety as crews use cranes to lift new spans into place on the bridge over I-75, according to the Tennessee Department of Transportation.

The northbound lanes will close tonight, Aug. 20 and Aug. 21, weather permitting. The southbound lanes will be closed Tuesday and Thursday plus Aug. 18. Hours for all closures are 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Traffic will be detoured by way of the entry and exit ramps. Flaggers will be used if needed, and the Tennessee Highway Patrol will assist with traffic control.

Woman accused of stealing cop car

ATLANTA - Police say a woman accused of stealing a Cobb County patrol car and fleeing on Interstate 75 has been taken into custody.

Cobb County police spokesman Mike Bowman said officers responded to a report of a suspicious and armed woman on Windy Hill Drive near Interstate 75 on Sunday afternoon. Bowman said the woman was able to get into a marked patrol car and flee south on the interstate.

Police pursued her, and the chase prompted closures of southbound lanes of the downtown connector where interstates 75 and 85 meet in Atlanta.

The runaway driver hit several cars when she exited the freeway in downtown Atlanta, and Bowman said multiple injuries were reported.

Police said the woman has been taken into custody. Her identity hasn't been released.
