Coexist

about Clay Bennett...

The son of a career army officer, Bennett led a nomadic life, attending ten different schools before graduating in 1980 from the University of North Alabama with degrees in Art and History. After brief stints as a staff artist at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and the Fayetteville (NC) Times, he went on to serve as the editorial cartoonist for the St. Petersburg Times (1981-1994) and The Christian Science Monitor (1997-2007), before joining the staff of the ...

As long as Muslims call for the death of all Jews, then they deserve all the hell unleashed on them by Israel. Islam is the "knockout game" of religions.

As usual, the zabbler has selective memory.

(1.) The cri'tian crusades are still taking place around the world, zabby. And they are just as brutal and bloody today as they were during such times as thge Spanish inquisition.

(2.) You conveniently forgot about the picture of U.S. soldiers playing soccer with the head if the dead Iraqi.

(3.) Muslims have no more called for the death of Jews than Israel has called for the death of Palestinians.

Which planet are you on? Are you a Palestinian? Actually the radical Jihadist such as Hamas are not representative of the majority of any country. I have never heard any Jew call for the death of all the people of any race. Leaders of Iran and Palestine openly say that all Jews should be destroyed.

It is moronic and anti-semitic for z-fister to allege all Muslims want to kill Christians, or all Jews. Clearly there is as much of a fringe fanatical element in Israel, Arab land, the United States, as here in Chattanooga where we find them contributing to this page.

The bottom line is that Israel is a political entity, not a religious community. There are religious Jews who stoke the anti-gentile view but it is a secular state that hates the Palestinians whose land they took. Such a position only fuels the fire of hatred from the other side.

Just like here is America, many Jews and Arabs desire to use religious arguments to buttress political positions. It is as wrong there as it is here.

The Lord gave humanity our kings and all the negative consequences because we demanded it.

Christians, in fits of sober thought, do not live and hope to establish or continue such a state ruled by a government of humans. To do so is to continue to attempt to wrestle the power of God from God and build an idol. This is clearly heresy to its core belief that there is one kingdom, and pointless futility because there is one ruler and one world that we hope for that is emergent but not here yet...(Rev 21:1-5, for example).

So z-fister, your arguments only foment the discord you criticize, to everyone's diminishment.

Nothing exposes unreasonable emotions in humans more than this issue.

Whether some people want to admit it or not, it is reasonable to believe that there are certainly Jews in Israel that would most certainly breathe a sigh of relief if every Palestinian was dead.

Of course, the opposite is just as true, but then again, I seriously doubt that EVERY Palestinian desires every Jew dead.

Fairmon, it goes a little deeper that the United States "befriending" Israel. Following WWII, The United States was largely responsible for the Jewish and Christian Zionist collaboration in moving an entire people off of land they had inhabited for hundreds of years to make way for the returning Jews.

Arguing the religious aspects of that is quite pointless. God may Biblically have set aside that land eons ago, but they lost control through various wars with Palestinians.

Imagine if the Native Indians were to reclaim the United States in a similar fashion for themselves and push every one of us off our lands. You'd be a little pissed too.

Our founding fathers were not so great, when all is taken into consideration to how this nation was formed. The land was basically stolen and the inhabitants killed.

Every single one of us lives on land that was stolen and the original owners, if you will, killed or imprisoned to make way for the White man.

Puff up your chests and feel pride about that, do you?

You feel pity for the Jews in Israel, while Native Americans are still treated like sh!t in this nation.

It is heartwarming to hear all of the love for Muslims that is consistently posted by "Christians" on this board.

And, I often wonder about all of the love for Jews expressed by "Christians" in this country. Is it really love for Jews or love for the State of Israel for the purpose of achieving the destruction of the Al Aqsa mosque, the facilitation of the coming of Armaggedon and the ultimate destruction of all Jews who fail to convert.

If humans really do have the capacity to facilitate Armaggedon, we are doing a good job of it. However, I suspect that many who expect to be gone when it comes will discover that they have been left behind.

Your thought should be a warning for those who are deceived, thinking they can live a life of sin and inherit eternal life.

Here is a comprehensive list of those who continually sin and their fate:

Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God 1 Corinthians 6:9-10

Scores of people ask for approval of their sinful lives so they find false teachers and apostate "churches" that tell them they can have their sins and Salvation too.

Not so!

It is absolutely amazing that Bennett and liberals don't get that when you shoot thousands of rockets into a country indiscriminately is bad.

Hamas is a terrorist organization that has called for the destruction of Israel. If Israel wanted to destroy Gaza it would be no more than a greasy spot. They could do the same to every major Muslim city in the Middle East.

Saying that it is Israels fault is bizarre.

Bennett is just plain stupid. It is the Muslims that don't want to coexist. Their religion calls for infidels to either become Muslims or die. ISIS is doing that right now.

Christians over the centuries have been guilty of forcing their religion in that region but the Muslims also went into Europe for the same purpose.

To compare Christians to Muslims is like comparing a Chihuahua to a pit bull. The only similarity is they are both religions.

There is no argument here. Anyone like Bennett who tries this line makes himself look stupid.

And as wrong for Western political cartoonists and atheists as well. “COEXISTENCE” makes for a catchy bumper-sticker sentiment, but it falls far short of making a substantive political statement. The concept is simplistic, impotent, and counterproductive in the face of jihad, genocide, and total war. Christian love alone has the power to transform tribalistic God-haters (both in the West, the Near-East, and beyond) into people who love their enemies.

dear zabbler, the only ones attempting to annihilate an entire ethnic group of people in that region appears to Israel. And just like wealthy businessmen continued to carry on business as usual with Nazi Germany even after the world became well aware of what Hitler was doing, so does that wealthy business world continue to do business with and invest in Israel's interest today, even as the state of Israel commits genocide. Remember to; were different sects/tribal groups of Jews, just as in any culture. Hitler targeted the ones he described as dark and beady eyed. When was the last time you saw a Jewish person who looked like that? Israel today would have likely (even certainly) have been Hitler collaborators. Think about it. ;)

Also ask yourselves this: Why did wealthy business in America go to the five civilized native american tribes and ask them "are you ready to take America back?" To which their response is said to have been "No! We need another hundrend years."

Wealthy business preparing to pull up stakes completely in amberica for more fertile ground. As the old native american Indian once described it: "the white man will rape the land until there's nothing left, then leave it barren, then move on to more fertile land and do the same"

Remember: When America was fertile and the soil rich and wealthy Europeans were looking for fertile land for agricultyral purposes to grow crops and raise livestock America too was once Israel. Think about it ;)

Caddy, institutional (governmental) laws exist to maintain social order of a particular culture. Social order in fact reflects the morality of the culture. Their laws, and hence their morality, reflect not a universal morality but the morality/values of the particular culture.

Something perceived as immoral in on place may be embraced in another. "Moral legislation" fits into this relative situation.

Once a person begins to impose the laws of their culture on others it becomes an act of oppression. Thus morality is always a dicey subject in a multi-cultural democracy (or democratic republic).

Even if true, and not another western made up myth, slavery apparently was so brutal under the French that they believed the 'devil was kinder? And try this one on for size as you defend modern Israel, a civil state. Let's put them in the same boat:

"(We took) possession of the land [and] when Sihon came out against us, we struck him down, along with his offspring and all his people. [We] captured all his towns, and in each town we utterly destroyed men, women, and children. We left not a single survivor. Only the livestock we kept as spoil for ourselves, as well as the plunder of the towns that we had captured. From there as far as Gilead, there was no citadel too high for us.  When we headed up the road to Bashan, King Og of Bashan came out against us [and] we struck him down until not a single survivor was left. [We] captured all his towns; there was no citadel that we did not take from them—sixty towns, and we utterly destroyed them, as we had done before, in each city utterly destroying men, women, and children. But all the livestock and the plunder of the towns we kept as spoil for ourselves. "

And you complain about ISIL!

So much for relativism. If they don't believe with you, kill them all, even the innocent children. Would you like to read more? How about the group who was told by Israel just to circumcise themselves and they would be part of Israel, only to be brutally executed afterwards.

But maybe you don't believe any of that really happened....

Yeah! And the slightest hint of an attack on american soil and folks get batazz crazy. No matter how manufactured the attack may be. But other countries who have to live with instability and chaos at the hands of powerful nations looking to control their natural resources are expected to remain docile and are labeled terrorists when they stand up to powerful bullies with the weaponry to wipe everyone off the planet, themselves included. And this might very well be the century that brings it all to a head. Unfortunately. :(

"Only" a minority of Muslims want to kill Christians, Jews, Buddhists, other Muslims not of their sect, atheists, agnostics, Mormons, Wickens, etc. At last count, there were 1.6 billion (Pew research) Muslims. Let's say a minority of 5% want to kill or convert at the end of sword or Kalashnikov everyone else. That would be 80 million religion crazed homicidal maniacs loose on this earth. Unfortunately for the rest of humanity, that number sounds about right. It only took 19 of them to kill 3000 Americans.

Really? "That number sounds about right" if you have spent your entire life in a cardboard box completely out of touch with reality. There is no evidence that substantiates that claim.

z-blister, since if you feel you have learned the truth and nothing anyone else has to say is relevant then go ahead and quack and quack saying there is no place for a reasonable discussion, but that leads pretty quickly to the old adage, "don't convince me with facts, I've made up my mind." You sound pretty much like the attitude you paint Islam: "you are wrong, I know best." I'm going to have to put you up there with old girl connie.

"The Old Testament" LOL desperate. Now, now genius.

Desperate.

In the year 2014, now listen boys and girls, members of what religion are crucifying, beheading, slaughtering, using women and children as human shields, calling for the extermination of people of other faiths ,and giving the "convert or die" ultimatum?

Hint, it's not Buddhism, Hinduism, Christianity, or Confusism.

Your posts are waste of time and laughable. Stupid sophistry and a desperate attempt to label Christianity a threat to the world. Boy, do you libs hate Christianity.

And it had absolutely nothing to do with the Islamic religion or Muslims wanting to kill chr'tians or anyone else, and all to do with western and Britain brutal policies in that region which have existed for over half a century.

Ever wonder why all those named in the 9/11 attack were discovered to be alive and well living in their native countries after the attacks, and had never visited the U.S. while everyone else were basically vaporized? Now that's a miracle that deserves looking into.

Of course it was Muslims that killed 6 million Jews in Europe in the mid 20th century. German Muslims. Right? Couldn't have been Christians that painted "Jude" on shops and spit on Jews being hearded into ghettos. Or burned synagogues, operated the death camps or stole furniture, art and jewelry from condemned Jews.

No religion gets a free pass.

Do you truly know that is all happening, how many people are actually involved in such acts, and what percentage of Muslims are actually representative of those who would dare commit such acts?

Or, could it be possible that the entire situation is being overblown by those who cannot coexist, who are adamantly opposed to Islam, like you for instance?

"Boy, do you libs hate Christianity."

Liberals actually hate nothing, but they do understand how dangerous religious fervor can become. One only needs to look at Ireland to understand how Christianity can be responsible for death and destruction of a society, or are there going to be some denials about that?

Deuteronomy 17 - "If there be found among you, within any of thy gates which the LORD thy God giveth thee, man or woman, that hath wrought wickedness in the sight of the LORD thy God, in transgressing his covenant;"

17:3 - "And hath gone and served other gods, and worshipped them, either the sun, or moon, or any of the host of heaven, which I have not commanded;"

17:4 - "And it be told thee, and thou hast heard of it, and enquired diligently, and, behold, it be true, and the thing certain, that such abomination is wrought in Israel;"

17:5 - "Then shalt thou bring forth that man or that woman, which have committed that wicked thing, unto thy gates, even that man or that woman, and shalt stone them with stones, till they die."

It isn't as absolute as a beheading, but it might be surmised from the above that Christians are commanded to cause a very horrible death to others for worshiping alternative gods.

I wonder in whose opinion it becomes to carry out such instructions, and I wonder if it will stand up in a civilian court-of-law as a valid reason for killing someone?

More research is needed before Christian radicals seize this passage and start using it for their chosen platform.

I fear Connie would exact this punishment against me for his perceived notion that I am a Mormon.

It is hard to "just get along" or "coexist" with those like Hamas or ISIS. Given a choice, like ISIS gave the Kurds, of converting to Islam, paying a tax you don't have the money to pay or die what would you do? My guess is most here would be kneeling to the east and praying 5 times a day to Allah and obeying sharia law.

Have you seen the video of the thousands and thousands stranded on the mountains of northern Iraq trying to escape ISIS. No shelter food or water corralled like animals by ISIS. Obama instructed the military to do limited bombing of ISIS locations and air drop some food and water which did little to help.

That is his decision and he is faced with it due to the too rapid ending of the IRAQ involvement and failure to react when ISIS was known to be crossing the border into Iraq from Syria. He wants to be known for ending the Iraq and Afghanistan war and he will be. He may also get credit for things he rather not be known for. His do nothing mentality is like someone saying I said maybe and that is my final word on the matter.

"I will cut the deficit in half my first term and if I don't I should be a one term president" "I will close Gitmo my first year in office". Many examples of misspeaking can be listed but none will deter those that could work but won't takers from wanting more. They are like that song "lie to me but say you love me". Not me. But then I'm not one who is panicking about Muslims.

"Have you seen the video of the thousands and thousands stranded on the mountains of northern Iraq trying to escape ISIS. No shelter food or water corralled like animals by ISIS. I don't care. Their problems are not my problems as an American. Our meddling in the affairs in other nations is what has led us to be attacked on 9/11/2001.

Enough. It's time for the United States to mind it's own business.

"That is his decision and he is faced with it due to the too rapid ending of the IRAQ involvement and failure to react when ISIS was known to be crossing the border into Iraq from Syria."

Sir, The Iraqi Government wanted us out of there. We left. Now they want our help again? What happened to your concern that we are broke? We cannot afford any more wars.

"He wants to be known for ending the Iraq and Afghanistan war and he will be. He may also get credit for things he rather not be known for. His do nothing mentality is like someone saying I said maybe and that is my final word on the matter."

And you know what? I'm betting he can live with that just fine. You should be giving the man credit for not jumping the gun like GWB did, killing thousands of our people and hundreds of thousands of theirs.

"He is a hell of a speaker but his actions are so loud it is hard to hear him. Some do holler amen to whatever he says and they will defend whatever they think it is he said."

I'm sick to death of politicians who use our men and women to fight their perceived battles for them.

I'm most of all sick to death of the war machine in this nation, forever looking for a way to make money off of killing others.

Propaganda feeds into that very nicely.

I believe the words I used was "unfulfilled campaign promises."

And if you're the person who makes those insurance decisions, that is STILL true.

"I will cut the deficit in half my first term and if I don't I should be a one term president"..."

Hey...the vast majority decided he was worth keeping around for a second term. Get over it.

"I will close Gitmo my first year in office"."

Further proof that the President, whomever that person may be, is on occasion overruled. I'm sure he had every intention of closing it. He still does. But the powers that be have other ideas.

I recently read an article Iran is the only key to bringing peace in that region. Instead of trying to build a platform to justify going to war with Iran, the west must allow Iran a place at the table. Arming the Kurds is no solution and in 20 years or less the U.S. will have to go back in and strip them of any power they were given.

Has anyone ever asked himself why warring factions woo us back into conflict as soon as we announce we're going to leave? How are they benefitting from having a US Military presence over there? And for those small-government types, what's "small government" about taking military action around the globe to shape circumstances the way we want them? That sounds a whole lot like our taxpayers paying to police the world!
