Cook ‘profoundly’ wrong on reasoning
David Cook is now calling Chattanooga’s citizens liars because we didn’t vote for domestic partner benefits.
He phrases the argument along religious moral grounds when that isn’t the issue at all. He says we are bigots and that we are afraid of gays and that we want to deny them their rights and that we think less of them as citizens. As usual, he is profoundly incorrect.
The issue is that if marriage is no longer defined as a union between a man and a woman, then what becomes of the definition of marriage? If domestic partners receive benefits, then why not allow polygamy? Would two women and a man or two men and a woman qualify? If they do not qualify, what is the reason?
According to Cook’s reasoning, all forms of “marriage” would be allowed because we have to let all people enjoy the same rights as straight people. After all, they are people too and need to have respect and God’s love like everyone else.
How does one prove they are a domestic partner? This situation would be rife for fraud and abuse. Wisely, Chattanoogans rejected this foolishness. Can we get rid of Cook with a vote?
Obama should arm Kurds now
We have armed the enemy just as we did with “fast and furious.” But we hold back on arming the Kurds — Christians who stand to be literally crucified if they are overrun.
I wish Obama would realize he already has these ally troops on the ground. He just has to supply them before they run out of ammunition. He bears the title of “commander-in-chief of the armed forces.” Pray that he takes off his golf hat and puts on his helmet before it is too late.

Bergdahl treatment ‘un-American’
For more than 60 years, the universal code of military justice has set forth the primary principle of American law that all people are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court martial. Why do so many elected officials and former members of our armed forces fail to trust American constitutional and military law in the case of Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl?
Throughout the history of our nation, the commander in chief of our armed forces, other commanders and diplomats have negotiated exchanges of captured military personnel in light of our national commitment that no one will be left behind. Why do so many commentators condemn our current president, Department of Defense and Department of State for their American behavior?
Jesus Christ and his disciples taught that God alone is the Lord of each human being’s conscience. Why do so many Christians condemn Bergdahl’s father for advising him to follow his conscience?
Could demagoguery, anarchy, terror, racism, heresy, polytheism and/or atheism underlie such seemingly un-American behavior?

Cyclists should use sense on roads
To the bicyclists who want to share the road, here’s a novel idea — share it in your own neighborhood!
Why shouldn’t I get ticked off when people drive 20 mph to become traffic nuisances on the narrow, unmarked roads in my neighborhood?
Don’t ride on mountain grades during high traffic times. Use some common sense.
