Golf aces for Aug. 13

Bill Butler celebrated his first hole-in-one on Aug. 2 at Council Fire. It was on No. 14, playing 155 yards, and he used a 6-iron with Charlie Mason, Scott Johnson and Bill Harris as witnesses.

George Garner sank his ninth hole-in-one last Wednesday at Brainerd while playing with Jeff Acuff and Ronnie Little. Garner used a pitching wedge for the 110-yard shot on No. 17.

Signal Mountain resident Ray Cherry recorded his fourth hole-in-one Saturday, and three of them now have come on three of the four par-3s at Moccasin Bend, where he has been playing since 1971. Saturday's ace was on No. 6, playing 149 yards, with an 8-iron, and Tom Paulson, Jim Holdbrook and Tony Carlton witnessed it. Cherry has scored eagles on every Moccasin Bend hole except Nos. 2 and 8.

Allen Myers made a hole-in-one Saturday on No. 7 at Valleybrook. He used a 5-wood for the 180-yard shot witnessed by Rick Kelly and Ron Kountz.
