Plastic Ominium gets state grant

The newest Volkswagen supplier is getting a $1 million grant from Tennessee's Department of Economic and Community Development through the Hamilton County Industrial Development board. Ross Schram, an attorney for the county IDB, told board members at the annual meeting this week that the county board will serve as a conduit for a state grant to help build the $65 million plant by Plastic Omnium Auto Exteriors LLC in the Enterprise South Industrial Park.

The fender manufacturer also is receiving $2.9 million in property tax breaks through the Chattanooga Industrial Development Board over the next decade. The company plans to initially hire 184 workers and could expand the plant to 300 employees over time.

Kenco named top in industry

For the second year in a row, the Chattanooga-based Kenco Logistics has been named to Inbound Logistics magazine's list of Top 10 logistics providers in North America. Kenco, a leading provider of distribution, transportation, and supply chain intelligence solutions, was picked No. 8 in the industry from the magazine's readership poll about the quality of third party logistics companies.

"This is great news, and shows how much our customers value Kenco and its services," said David Caines, president of Kenco Logistic Services. "It also demonstrates that every person on our 3,500-member team is committed to providing common-sense solutions for an uncommon value."
