Man shot during Catoosa County home invasion

A home invasion and attempted burglary led to shots being fired in Catoosa County this afternoon.

At approximately 1:30 p.m., deputies responded to a residence on Vero Branch Avenue off State Line Road, according to news release from Sheriff Gary Sisk.

Shots were fired from the resident of the house, after one of the multiple suspects entered his house. The suspect is a black male and he was shot in the upper-leg. He was treated for a gunshot wound at Memorial Hospital, and after being released was taken to the Hamilton County Jail, Sisk said.

The other suspects escaped the scene of the crime in a gold Ford Crown Victoria upon the officers arrival.
