Man shot in leg in Catoosa County home invasion

A home invasion and attempted burglary led to shots being fired in Catoosa County on Friday.

At approximately 1:30 p.m., deputies responded to a residence on Vero Branch Avenue off State Line Road, according to news release from Sheriff Gary Sisk.

Shots were fired from the resident of the house, after one of the multiple suspects entered his house. The suspect is a black male and he was shot in the upper-leg. He was treated for a gunshot wound at Memorial Hospital, and after being released was taken to the Hamilton County Jail, Sisk said.

The other suspects escaped the scene of the crime in a gold Ford Crown Victoria upon the officers arrival.

Woman killed in car crash

A woman died Friday afternoon in a single vehicle crash on Highway 58, according to the Hamilton County Sheriff's Department.

Spokeswoman Janice Atkinson said the crash happened in the 8000 block around 3:10 p.m.

A southbound 2004 Honda left the roadway and hit a ditch, then went airborne and landed in some trees. The 35-year-old driver was thrown from the vehicle and killed. Atkinson said the woman's identity will be released after family notifications are made. She said the traffic investigation is in the preliminary stages.


Three charged in armed robbery

Three male suspects were arrested Thursday in connection with the July 31 armed robbery of the Collegedale Credit Union.

The three arrested by Collegedale police were Stefan Huber, Caleb Minner and Matthew McKamey. The three men are charged with conspiracy and armed robbery. Each suspect is being held at the Hamilton County Jail on a $100,000 bond. All three men reside in the Collegedale/ Apison area. The suspects were taken into custody without incident.

The investigation into the robbery has been ongoing since July 31. The criminal investigation team followed up on numerous leads, used physical evidence found at the crime scene and secured phone records that connected all three to the robbery.
