Florida man charged with shooting at Georgia church

MARTINEZ, Ga. - Authorities say a man arrested in Florida is suspected of attacking on a couple outside a Georgia church that left a man dead from gunshot wounds and his wife wounded from being struck with a handgun.

The Augusta Chronicle reports 21-year-old Daniel Nelson Robinson was arrested Friday after a police chase in Jacksonville, Florida -- 260 miles from the scene of the attack.

Authorities say Bill and Jenny Davitte were outside the Marvin United Methodist Church in Martinez, Georgia, on Thursday night to activate the sprinkler system.

Columbia County sheriff's Capt. Steve Morris says Robinson found Jenny Davitte alone in a car and beat her with a handgun. When her husband ran to help, he was shot three times.

Robinson is being held in Florida awaiting extradition to Georgia.
