Swing's the thing in Athens - Aug. 29

Swing dancers in the Athens, Tenn., area can show off their fancy footwork at a Swing Dance Party on Friday, Aug. 29, at The Arts Center.

You don't have to be an expert to put on your dancing shoes and take part. Beginners can come at 7 p.m. for a lesson and stay for the party at 8 p.m. All ages and experience levels are welcome, and no partner is required.

Local swing dancers, led by Ava Nicole Hughes, will demonstrate and teach beginners the basics of footwork for six-count swing to the sounds of swing-era music. Dancers should wear cool comfortable clothing and nonskid shoes.

The party will be held in The Arts Center's Sue E. Trotter Black Box Theater, 320 N. White St.

Admission is a minimum $5 donation to the Athens Area Council for the Arts.
