Sara McIntyre has been named the executive director at Crabtree Farms of Chattanooga. McIntyre began volunteering at Crabtree Farms in February 2011 and was hired on as urban farmer and volunteer coordinator in March 2012. In August 2012, she took on the position of educational coordinator, later becoming farm manager in January 2014.

McIntyre, a native of Kansas City, Kan., has lived in Chattanooga since 2010. She has a bachelor's degree in biology from Carleton College in Northfield, Minn., and studied environmental education through the University of Wyoming and Utah State University graduate programs. She taught science for five years at middle and high school levels, including one year at Baylor School. She hopes her experience as an educator will enhance Crabtree Farms' already established educational programs.

"This is a great opportunity for a great organization," said Joel Houser, executive director of Crabtree Farms. "We have extremely high expectations for what Sara will be able to accomplish with her passion, background and proven leadership."
