The Trevecca Nazarene women's soccer program continued its recent raid of the Chattanooga area, plucking midfielder Mackenzie Nadeau from Notre Dame and Grace Academy goalkeeper Abbey Bosco.

The two know each other from when the teams faced off in a Class A/AA sectional in October but will have four seasons to get further acquainted. They will join four local players already with the NCAA Division II school in Nashville: Ryan and Abbie Alosi (Silverdale), Brooke Gann (East Ridge) and Anna Hoffman (Chattanooga Christian).

Nadeau, a freshman on the 2010 A/AA state championship team, was a two-time all-state player -- as a defender in 2012 and as a midfielder her senior season.

"Coach [Mark] Foster has a great personality, and I could see him coaching me in the future," she said of choosing TNU. "I really didn't want to stop playing soccer. I'd been playing my whole life and it doesn't seem right to just stop.

"It's weird that there are all these players that played in separate areas of Chattanooga, and now we're going to be in the same place on the same team. It just shows that soccer in the Chattanooga area is very talented."

Bosco had 13 shutouts and a 0.59 goals-against average her senior season, being named the District 5-A/AA most valuable player. She's also been invited to play with the newly formed Chattanooga Football Club women's team this summer, as its youngest player.

"[Trevecca's Trojans] have a high level of soccer at the Division II level, and the coaches and players both live a spiritual life. They care about you as a player, but they want the best for you and want you to be the best player you can be," Bosco said. "It was cool visiting Trevecca and seeing those from home in the locker room. It says a lot about Chattanooga soccer; there's a lot of talent and speaks to the level of play here.

"I'm going to be away from home, but it's going to be like home when I get there. I look forward to that."

Smith officially King bound

Soddy-Daisy senior Miranda Smith signed Wednesday to continue her soccer career at Division II King University. The District 5-AAA MVP and offensive player of the year had 18 goals and nine assists as a senior despite missing time with a quadriceps injury, and she helped the Lady Trojans to the district semifinals.

Her final two seasons with Soddy-Daisy, she had 41 goals and 29 assists. She said Wednesday she also considered Columbus State and North Georgia.

"The coaches were nice and it's a really beautiful campus," Smith said of the Bristol school. "Once I get used to working with the team, I think I'll be able to help them out by scoring goals. At this point, I'm not used to that level."
