Keegan Frederick allowed one hit in six innings and Bobby Towne gave up three hits in five innings as the winning pitchers in Cleveland State's 7-2, 9-3 doubleheader sweep of the visiting Vincennes (Ind.) University baseball team Saturday.

The Cougars (5-1) totaled 16 hits in the two games but began their onslaught with a five-run second inning that included four walks and two hit batsmen before Keith Buckhault's two-run double. He also doubled in the first of three first-inning runs in game two, and Dalton Rogers, Chris Caffrey, Jammer Strickland, Jansen Roberson, Evan Speicher, Michael Allen and Clay Hetland added RBIs.

Lee 9, Kentucky State 1: Also at Cleveland, the Flames rose to 6-0 as Josh Silver had three hits, Jordan Stewart homered and singled and Blake Ray and Derrick Pitts also had two hits each. Lee scored six runs in the first inning and two in the second, and starting pitcher Dustin Lawson gave up one hit and struck out five batters in his four innings.

Mid-Continent 5-7, Tennessee Temple 3-3: Also at Cleveland, at Walker Valley High School, Jimmy Braswell's two-run singled highlighted a four-run fifth inning in the Kentucky team's first game of the season, and Brock Hill had two RBIs with two hits in the second win.

For TTU (0-4), Jan Ramirez and Austin Layne singled in runs and Nico McElrath's walk brought in another in the fifth in the first game, and McElrath was 2-for-3 and Josh Thomas scored twice in game two.

Shawnee State 9-4, Bryan 4-2: At Dayton, the host Lions lost twice although Justin Morhardt hit a two-run homer in the first game and went 2-for-3 with an RBI in game two, when Tyler Latham doubled in a run and Hunter Lamoureux and Kenny Knudsen split a four-hitter on the mound in defeat.

Morhardt and Hunter Tipton each had two hits in the opener, when Grant Zawadzki matched Morhardt's two RBIs for Bryan (2-5). Only four of the nine runs scored off John Cain were earned.
