David Carroll

In August, Channel 3 showed a tape of a Down syndrome young man running for a 70-yard touchdown in a pre-season game. I sent a link to the video to a friend, whose late brother was also Down syndrome. Unfortunately, my friend could not access the link.

Several weeks ago I encountered David Carroll, news anchor of Channel 3, out in public. During the course of our conversation I thought to ask if he could make a DVD of that touchdown run for my friend. David couldn't have been more obliging. Within a few days, he sent me the DVD, which I forwarded to my friend, who, in turn, was also very grateful.

For a public figure like David, who was only a casual acquaintance of mine, to have done such a good deed is worthy of notifying Times Free Press readers.
