First-place Lady Flames win

The Lee University basketball teams ended the home portion of their first regular season in NCAA Division II and the Gulf South Conference with an 83-77 Lady Flames victory and a 59-52 Flames loss Saturday against Alabama-Huntsville.

Hollie German scored 21 points and Madison Lee and Myriah Iles added 15 each in the first-place Lady Flames' 12th consecutive victory, Lee with eight rebounds and six assists and Iles with four blocked shots. Rachel Lockhart had 12 points and five assists for Lee (19-4, 15-2).

Jordan Smith scored 31 points and Jasmine Hammon had 21 points for UAH (15-9, 10-8), which limited German to seven shots from the field, but she hit 13 of 14 free throws.

Bryce Copeland scored 14 points and rice Sharp added 12 for the Flames (9-14, 5-12), while Chad Lee had 10 rebounds with eight points.

• At Dayton, Tenn., Bryan College swept visiting Truett-McConnell in an AAC doubleheader, 45-30 despite 25 percent shooting in the women's game and 70-69 in the men's with 33 points and 10 rebounds from Brandon Cole, 23 points on six 3s from Robert Troino and 13 rebounds from Derrick Walker.

Victoria Griffin and Megan Billingsby led the Lady Lions with 10 points each, Billingsby with eight rebounds, and Keila Formont made five steals.

Truett's Helen Simoes from Hamilton Heights had a team-high 12 points in Wednesday's 7i-47 loss to Reinhardt, which got seven seven steals and seven assists from Sonoraville graduate Payton Smith and 11 reobunds with eight points from Dalton's April Besley. Besley had 16 rebounds and a team-high 12 points in Reinhardt's 71-62 loss to Union College on Saturday.

• At Brunswick, Ga., Dalton State's first-year Roadrunners came back from a 13-point deficit and won by 17 at Coastal Georgia, 94-77, as LaDaris Green had 26 points and 12 rebounds and Ricky Sears scored 21 points. Anthony Hilliard and Tyrel Edwards had 11 points each for DSC (25-4).

• At Columbia, S.C., Tennessee Temple swept Columbia International, the Crusaders winning 91-77 after the Lady Crusaders won 68-48. Elliot Johnson had 20 points and seven rebounds, Weedlens Beauvil made five 3-pointers for 15 points and Jarrett Smith had 12 points, 10 assists and nine rebounds as the Crusaders rose to 17-10.

Jessica Salera had 22 points and 11 rebounds, Amanda Rector and TaQuasha O'Neal scored 16 and 14 points and Anfel Foster had 15 rebounds and five steals with 11 points for the Temple women.

• On Lookout Mountain, the Covenant women upset visiting LaGrange 56-54 on senior day with senior Kiaira Cooper's layup with 29 seconds to go providing the difference, but LaGrange won the USA South men's game 97-58.

Aleigha Williams scored 16 points, Alexis Storteboom grabbed 13 rebounds and Morgan Woodward had six assists and four steals for the Lady Scots (8-17, 4-12). Chris Boyd and Teron Ferguson had 10 points apiece and nine and eight rebounds to pace the Scots (8-17, 3-11).

• At Cleveland, Cleveland State's Lady Cougars won 64-60 over Dyersburg State on Friday and 88-72 over Southwest Tennessee on Saturday, and the Cougars won 67-62 against Dyersburg but lost 89-68 to the 17th-ranked Saluqis in the TCCAA weekend.

Jamesha Mosley and Aysia Grimsley scored 25 and 24 points for the Lady Cougars on Saturday, when Katrice Harris scored 20 and Jara Gasper had 15. Gasper and Mosley scored 22 and 21 on Friday. Stetson Moore led the Cougars' win with 18 points, and Keevin Tyus had 24 in their loss.
