Cocktails for Conservation on Friday - Feb. 28

photo Hellbenders are the largest salamanders in North America. Friday's Cocktails for Conservation at Chattanooga Zoo raises funds for these and other endangered animals.

Animals from salamanders to snow leopards are the focus when Chattanooga Zoo hosts Cocktails for Conservation on Friday, Feb. 28.

Proceeds from the annual event benefit the zoo's many conservation projects, including the breeding of hellbenders, the largest salamanders in North America, and the highly endangered snow leopard. In addition, monies raised will be used to support the Zoo's Conservation Outreach Group, the Snow Leopard Trust partnership, as well as the zoo's various Species Survival Plans for critically endangered animals.

"The funds we raise through Cocktails for Conservation allow us to continue our critical conservation efforts so that many of the world's most fascinating and beautiful creatures do not become completely extinct," says Executive Director Darde Long.

Guests are invited to spend the evening enjoying cocktails, light hors d'oeuvres and up-close animal encounters. Event hours at the zoo, 301 N. Holtzclaw Ave., are 6 to 8 p.m.

Advance tickets are $20. Day-of ticket sales will be $25 for zoo members, $30 for nonmembers. All guests must be 21 years of age. To purchase tickets, call 423-697-1319 or visit www.chattzoo.org.
