ATLANTA - Forecasters are predicting icy roads and light snow in parts of the north Georgia mountains.

The National Weather Service early today issued a winter weather advisory through Friday morning for Murray, Fannin, Gilmer, Union, Towns, Pickens, Dawson, Lumpkin and White counties. It says icy roads will be possible in the area, as well as accumulating snow at elevations of 1,500 feet and above.

In metro Atlanta, temperatures are expected to drop into the low 20s by early Friday.

A wind advisory will also go into effect this afternoon, as gusts of up to 35 mph are expected across much of the state.
