Snow blanketing parts of Chattanooga area

Thursday, January 2, 2014

Snow and dropping temperatures reached into the Chattanooga area today.

In the early evening, snow was blanketing roads and yards on Signal Mountain.

Roberts Mill Road was closed to traffic due to weather conditions.

Driving conditions have become hazardous and drivers should be warned to stay off roadways if at all possible, according to the Hamilton County Sheriff's Department.

The snow's arrival was preceded by high winds and a drop in temperatures.

A forecast for early next week points to temperatures reaching into the teens through this region.
