Celebrating their 50th anniversary, the West family and professionals at ServiceMaster of Chattanooga are reaching out to thank their customers for their loyalty and continued business. Owners and founders Dick and Bobbie West agree that without those relationships, they would not be the successful business they are today.
“We’re just so glad to give them what they want and to be able to offer the great services we do ,” Bobbie West said.

Since 1963, Service- Master has been Chattanooga’s leading force in professional cleaning, yet it all started from humble beginnings. As a young man, Dick West dreamed of owning a business and being a driving force in his own destiny. His opportunity was realized in 1963. What then started as a one-man show in the basement of his home quickly grew to a thriving business, and his dream turned into a reality.
The company ’s increased growth allowed the Wests to become a distributor for ServiceMaster Corporate in 1965. They were instrumental for more than 32 years, selling and doing training for 38 franchises in Tennessee and Georgia. All of those franchises eventually became a part of the West family business.

“It is our belief that if you start at the top of the objectives and follow through, then you will succeed,” Dick West said. “People are our business, from the customers we serve to the people that help us service those customers.”
All ServiceMaster employees receive training on multiple levels depending on their job requirements. It is extremely important to the company to keep education and certifications top of the line, said Trish West, executive
sales. “We just simply know it’s important to train and certify any associate that wears ServiceMaster on their shirt,” she said.
Tony West, executive vice president, stated that ServiceMaster offers residential and comprehensive disaster restoration services as well as janitorial and commercial services. The company is certified through the IICRC in water damage restoration, odor control, carpet cleaning, fire and smoke restoration and applied structural drying.
Julie West Hammond, executive vice president, said the janitorial staff and commercial division are up to date in green cleaning, health care cleaning,
educational facilities training, upholstery, carpet care and more.
“We offer a written guarantee that states if you’re not satisfied we will do it again at no cost, so obviously we want to get it right,” Robby Hammond, operations manager, said. “We encourage our staff to remember ‘What is the customers’ expectations?’ and ‘How can we create a Master moment that exceeds their expectation?’”
