IF YOU GO¦ What: Harlem Globetrotters.¦ When: 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15.¦ Where: McKenzie Arena, Fourth andMabel streets.¦ Admission: $21, $26, $33, $49 and$102.¦ Phone: 423-266-MOCS (6627).¦ Website: www.tickettracks.com.

The Harlem Globetrotters return to UTC's McKenzie Arena on Wednesday, Jan. 15, promising a different kind of fancy footwork.

In addition to their dribbling, dunking and spinning skills, they'll show off their dance moves in The Trotter Bounce. The new routine is performed at every stop on the team's 2014 Fans Rule World Tour.

The "Fans Rule" addition holds surprises as well. Fans can go online to decide which of five rules, such as two basketballs in play at one time, will be used in the game.

The Harlem Globetrotters play basketball, of course, but their showmanship comes from equal parts athleticism, theatrics and comedy. They don't just play; they perform.

The 29 players on this year's roster include three women. Both TNT Maddox and T-Time Brawner are 5-foot-6, and Sweet J Ekworomadu is 5-foot-10. The men range in height from Too Tall Hall, who at 5-foot-2 is the shortest player in team history, to Stretch Middleton at 7-foot-4.

FAN RULE OPTIONS

The Fans Rule change will be decided by fans from five possible choices for the 2014 World Tour. Vote at www.

harlemglobetrotters.com/rule.

¦ Make or Miss: The quarter starts with two players from each team. To get more players on the court, the teams must score. Make a basket, and another player comes in. Miss ashot, and lose a player.

¦ Hot Hand Jersey: Both teams will have a hot-handjersey they can pass among players to wear during this

quarter. The player wearing the jersey will be awarded double points when he or she scores.

¦ Trick Shot Challenge: Each team has three trick-shot challenges during this quarter. If the team makes the trick-shot challenge, it's awarded 5 extra points. If the team misses, 5 points go to the opposing team.

¦ 6 on 5: Five Globetrotters will go up against six opponents.

¦ Two Ball Basketball: Two basketballs are in play at the same time.
