about Clay Bennett...

The son of a career army officer, Bennett led a nomadic life, attending ten different schools before graduating in 1980 from the University of North Alabama with degrees in Art and History. After brief stints as a staff artist at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and the Fayetteville (NC) Times, he went on to serve as the editorial cartoonist for the St. Petersburg Times (1981-1994) and The Christian Science Monitor (1997-2007), before joining the staff of the ...

An opportunist vs a proven slug.

Wamp needs a job and a pension plan. Fleischmann needs a talent implant.

Be nice if some better choices came along.

Young at least knows the debt is his and not those old farts that won't be around to help pay it. Young is better than senility like McCain, Reid and a few others. At least a few younger folks need to taste the good life (healthcare, pension, travel and the perks provided our elected elite) since the opportunity to so by other than those that set their own compensation will be limited.

The one person in congress I would like to see defeated more than any member is Nancy Pelosi. Look the "B" word up in Webster's and it may say for example see Nancy Pelosi.

January 14, 2014 at 5:13 a.m.

Nancy Pelosi is the poster girl for corruption, incompetence, and for term limits.

I think it's a good idea to get someone young in there who realizes what his generation has been saddled with by corrupt opportunists, like Reid, Pelosi and Obama, and do nothings like McCain.

Weston and his dad, that did not hold office when Obama came to town, made sure they did the meet and greet with Obama. So why would the Wamps go to the trouble to visit Obama if they were so much against him? Not much conservative character shown if you ask me. Click on the link and go to the 22 picture, also watch the video, they act like they approve of Obama. http://www.wrcbtv.com/category/268299/potus http://ireport.cnn.com/docs/DOC-1013419

they (Wamps) act like they approve of Obama.

Showing a little class and acting civil does not mean agreement. Snubbing the president should be left up to voters that are not likely to need to work with and get along with him.

take a breath before you all descend into character assassination, baseless allegations and petty potty talk and try to keep the debate on objective grounds.

I have to agree that snubbing the President because you disagree with his politics isn't really a civil thing to do. That is what the ballot box is for. If a person cannot treat the office holder as a human being, one of God's children deserving the same respect they desire, perhaps they should consider saying nothing in the interest of decency.

Some objective issues: Chuck, for example, refuses to allow any form of communication from voters by e-mail. He ignores the voting public, unless they can trek to DC and get an office staffer to arrange an appointment. To my knowledge he has never spoken out in a reasoned way to explain why we should support his policies, or even what are his polices. Other than basically supporting the tea party platform, he makes nothing clear about what he sincerely believes.

Wamp, of course, could be branded with his father's foibles but let's see how he stands on the issues.

Who is the democratic candidate?

The U.S. government is on the hunt to find the perfect condom, according to the New York Post.

The National Institutes of Health plans to spend $224,863 to test 95 "custom-fit" condoms, so men can choose the one that fits just right, the paper reported.

Uh-oh...another screwing by our own elected government. I wonder if they plan to use them in their 2014 rape of the citizens that elected them? Do they really care enough to use protection or is it they think they need protection?

The logic too many use is it isn't a lot of money as a percent of the total or it isn't much in the whole scheme of things. How many bankruptcy cases resulted from that mind set?

The image of Chuckie running through the airport to get out of town before President Obama arrived last summer is one that most Dems should not forget anytime soon. That same level of disrespect and disregard he exhibited for the Office of President of the United States should be shown to him when he comes crawling to the Independents and Dems he's going to need to cross over for him to get the primary nomination.

Unfortunately, the Dems don't have a viable candidate. Unless some miracle happens it doesn't look like they're going to have one anytime soon to face the Repubs in the House or the Senate races. It's really sad the Dems have pretty much conceded the races to the Repubs but evidently no one is willing to step up to the plate.

Obama is a liar, and by lying has shown no respect for the citizens of this country. Then he tries to slink out of his lies. He deserves to be snubbed. His lies hit everyone personally. Same for Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid. Until Obama shows some respect for the citizens of this country, then he deserves no respect. He's the POTUS, but that doesn't entitle him to be automatically respected.

January 14, 2014 at 10:20 a.m.
nurseforjustice said...

Z, I disagree with you. I believe that simply being the POTUS does entitle him to be shown respect. Obviously you were never in the military. Respect there is shown simply by rank on an impersonal basis. You show respect to your superiors regardless of what you think of them which means you are at the very least cordial.

Regarding the cartoon, I am on Chuck's email list and receive emails from him at least quarterly. I have not had a problem with him as of yet. I know him personally and at first did not think he had what it takes to stand up for himself in D.C. However, I have been pleasantly surprised.

It's too bad the Democratic Party doesn't have someone as straightforward and trustworthy as Chris Christie. I remember right before Christie's re-election when President Obama went to New Jersey to observe the hurricane damage with the governor to give him what he was asking for to help the 'citizens' of New Jersey. Instead it turned out to be 'walkin around' money or more to the point, money to spend on his campaign ads instead of the citizens of New Jersey. Christie was all up in Obama's junk then and as soon as he was gone, Christie started his cowardly attack. He's a classy specimen, but the epitome of the republican party. I am not an Obama supporter (too far to the right for my taste), but I'll take 100 Obamas over anything the right has to offer.

Hunter_Bluff said...

I've said on this forum before, that the Dick McConnell seems to get all the money he needs to fix HIS lock for Kentucky. Chucky Flashman and Corker have been too worried about the bad ole UAW sneaking into town to take care of a real issue. The lock is replaced within 5 years or it is closed permanently to prevent catastrophic failure.

Hunter_Bluff said...

I suggest Chuck Fleischman get to work trying to figure out how to get funding for the Chickamauga lock away from the Dick McConnell before the lock blows out and we have no barge traffic. That will certainly cut down on staffing costs for the lock.

Hunter_Bluff said...

A least Alexander is trying to get the Chickamauga Lock repaired before the old lock collapses. And thanks Mitch McConnell for sucking up all the money for the lock in his state - screw the rest of the country's interests.

I’m sure you're talking about the Olmstead Dam and Locks on the Ohio River that McConnell has been a supporter for since 1988. There was a lot of talk about McConnell getting a $2 billion earmark during the budget shut down last year. However the reality doesn’t fit you Fleabagger talking point.

The project “authorization” was increased from $1.7B to $2.91B by Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) and Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) the chairmen of the Energy and Water Appropriations Subcommittee and was specifically requested in President Obama’s budget request. The reauthorization was needed to prevent $170 million lost due to contract cancellations. Also as you can see the increase was 1.2 billion an not the $2 billion claimed.

But the kicker is that this was an “authorization” and not an “appropriation” of funds if you even know the difference. No funds were “appropriated” (stolen from your pet project) and will need to be done so in future votes.

I have no party affiliation; I vote for the person. In the last few years, I have voted mostly for democrats, as I cannot stomach the hate and bigotry coming from the far right. I am a social liberal and more fiscally conservative, so I don't know where I really fit. However, I sure know one thing; I will cross any party line to vote against Fleishman. Wamp most definately will receive my vote and any others I can find for him. A democrat has zero chance of winning this seat anyway. Fleishman is the biggest douche bag I have ever encountered. He refuses to speak to his anyone in the district, hides from people, and uses his pulpit like a bully. I sent him a letter against his voting record, and now the idiot and the idiots that work for him constantly and consistently send me emails and postal mail railing against the president as if I am a supporter! Such a joke. Just shows not only does he not read letters from people in his district, he doesn't care at all what you have to say. He doesn't get it at all. A member of my family went to law school with him, and said he was shocked when he heard he was running for Congress because he is so backward in dealing with people. He shrinks when around a group. I implore any Democrat or Indep. in this district to cross any and all party lines to vote against Fleishman. He needs to go and go soon, as he is a joke.
