Hamilton County sheriff's deputies took an 18-year-old man into custody Tuesday after they said he fired shots near a high school.

Authorities said Joshua Lander discharged a firearm near Hamilton County High School, formerly known as Harrison Bay Vocational School.

Lander was charged with reckless endangerment and carrying a weapon on school property. Additional charges are possible in relation to the incident.

Principal Gary Kuehn said the school was immediately put on lockdown.

He said no students were present and no one was injured.
