Hamilton County lawyer censured by Tennessee Supreme Court board

Local attorney Philip Rubin Strang has been censured by the Board of Professional Responsibility of the Tennessee Supreme Court.

In a news release, the board said Strang paid a personal expense from money in his trust account, overdrawing funds in the account. Later he issued a check to his client for funds collected for the client, but the trust account didn't have enough money to cover the check.

The release said Strang violated rules of professional conduct regarding safekeeping funds.

The censure is a rebuke and warning to the attorney, but does not affect his ability to practice law, the release stated.
