Suspect arrested after pursuit

East Ridge police say a man led officers on a chase that began on Marlboro Avenue and ended on Karweill Lane after crashing through a fence.

Police are still searching for the passenger in the vehicle. The occupant has not been identified, according to a news release.

Police have identified the driver as 29-year-old Kevin Cook. He faces charges of evading arrest, reckless endangerment, theft under $500, theft over $10,000.

Police encountered the silver Cadillac just after noon Thursday while responding to a call for suspicious activity on Lanoir Street where officers had received reports of thefts.

When police attempted to conduct a traffic stop, the vehicle headed south on Marlboro. The vehicle crossed Ringgold Road and veered down back roads before connecting to McBrien Road and then back to Ringgold Road, according to the news release.

The Cadillac traveled through parking lots and yards and came to a stop after crashing through a fence.

When police ran plates of the vehicle they learned it was reported stolen.

Two charged in carjack

A 53-year-old woman told police a man and woman carjacked her vehicle on Highway 58 Thursday at knife point.

The woman was able to identify 40-year-old Michael Price and 22-year-old Jasmine Rogers as the pair who took her car, according to Chattanooga police.

The woman told police that she gave the pair a ride to Tennessee Valley Credit Union at 4974 Highway 58. One went inside the bank while the other forced her out of the vehicle after wielding a knife and placing it to the woman's neck. The woman was not injured, according to police.
