Colgate to add Morristown unit

Colgate-Palmolive will build a new $25 million manufacturing plant in Morristown, Tenn., to make oral care products.

The company said Wednesday it will build a stand-alone facility adjacent to its current Colgate Total toothpaste plant, which located in Morristown in 2008. Construction on the new facility, which will include production of products sold to dental professionals through the company's Colgate Oral Pharmaceuticals business, will begin this year with occupancy slated for early 2015 and full employment by late 2015. Colgate-Palmolive will create 75 new jobs.

Memphis call center yields 1,000 jobs

Conduit Global announced Wednesday it will locate a new call center in Memphis that will create more than 1,000 telemarmeting jobs. Conduit will invest $8 million in the new facility, its sixth call center in the United States. The company has more than 5,000 employees around the world and the new Memphis facility will provide support for wireless customers.

"Business services is a sector where Tennessee possesses a unique competitive edge, and I couldn't be more pleased to see Conduit add to our state's strength in business process outsourcing," Tennessee Economic Development Commisioner Bill Hagerty said.
