Romantic Seafood Dinner coming up - Feb. 6

Thursday, January 30, 2014

Not every romantic dinner can wait until Valentine's Day. Two local attractions are taking reservations for dinners planned for the first week of February.

Tennessee Aquarium

Reservations are being taken for the Romantic Seafood Dinner scheduled at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, at 212 Market Restaurant, 212 Market St.

Organizers at the Tennessee Aquarium say the meal is designed to spark romance by taking your taste buds for a dance.

"You and yours will first enjoy the tango of two oysters, both fried and served in a zesty cocktail sauce. Then, sidestep to a sustainable seafood risotto with shrimp, clams and lobster. ... For the final bow, a decadently rich but light chocolate pot de crème brings this evening to a close."

A glass of wine is included in the price. Cost is $55 for Aquarium members, $65 for nonmembers.

Space is limited to 35. To register, go to www.tnaqua.org and click on Events.

Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum

TVRM will run Valentine Dinner Trains the weekend before and the weekend of Valentine's Day.

The evening features a four-course dinner aboard a 1924 dining car, departing at 5:30 p.m. from Grand Junction Station, 4119 Cromwell Road, and traveling through portions of urban Chattanooga, such as the Chattanooga Zoo and Chattanooga National Cemetery. Available dates are Friday and Saturday, Feb. 8-9, and Thursday through Saturday, Feb. 13-15. On Feb. 14-15, there will be a second outing at 8 p.m.

You will choose your entree when you order (beef, chicken, fish and vegetarian choices).

Tickets are $150 or $160 per couple, for the diner car or Pullman car (includes tax and gratuity). Reservations are recommended, as tickets typically sell out for these excursions.
