Garden Ridge becomes At Home

The Garden Ridge store at 482 McBrien Road got a new coat of paint and changed its name to At Home this week.

The change is part of a $20 million, company-wide rebranding campaign. The Texas-based crafting and home decorating chain will change all of its 71 stores from Garden Ridge to At Home.

The move is intended to better reflect the company's products, which range from furniture to flowers to Tiki torches. The 100,000-square-foot East Ridge store, originally built as a K-mart, will keep most of the same product lines and is open.

Aldi to hire more workers

Aldi, the German-based discount grocer with area stores in East Brainerd, Hixson, Fort Oglethorpe, Cleveland and Dalton, will conduct a hiring event at the Hampton Inn near Hamilton Place from 8 a.m. to noon on Friday July 11.

The grocery chain will be hiring local workers to fill vacant jobs as store associates and shift manager positions, which pay from $10 to $14 an hour, the company said in an announcement Wednesday.
