Tea Party Nation backs DesJarlais

Judson Phillips of the Tea Party Nation endorsed U.S. Rep. Scott DesJarlais in the Republican primary for the 4th Congressional District of Tennessee.

Phillips noted that the National Journal called DesJarlais, a South Pittsburg physician seeking his third term, the fourth-most conservative member of the U.S. House. He called primary challenger Jim Tracy, a state senator from Shelbyville, an “establishment Republican” who “belongs to the Lamar Alexander wing of the Republican Party.”

Crangle says Tennessee should defend borders

Tommy Crangle, Republican candidate for Tennessee House District 27, said state residents need to “make some decisions about how best to defend the security of our state and our citizens.”

He referred to the high numbers of Central American children flooding across the nation’s southern border and said it’s the “primary reason” he is running for the state House.

“I am interested in protecting the citizens of Tennessee against a Federal government that seems intent on destroying the America that hardworking people love. This is particularly important for Tennessee since we have been forced to accept thousands of refugees under the U.N. Refugee Resettlement Program. These refugees have placed an incredible strain on Tennessee’s social safety net and created additional burdens for taxpayers. I intend to join other legislators to push back on this program,” said Crangle, a professional engineer and former TVA executive.
