Alabama man convicted in child sex case

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - A southeast Alabama man has been convicted of transporting a child to Tennessee and Ohio for sex.

A federal jury in Montgomery returned a guilty verdict Wednesday against 38-year-old Charles Partin of Clayton. He was also convicted of transporting a stolen vehicle across state lines.

Federal prosecutors say testimony in the trial showed Partin began molesting the child when she was 8. She got pregnant when she was 14, and DNA evidence showed Partin was the father. Prosecutors say Partin took the girl to Tennessee and Ohio for sex in 2012 when she was 15. He was arrested in Ohio after Alabama police issued an Amber Alert for the missing girl.

U.S. Attorney George Beck says Partin is facing at least 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
