A 27-year veteran of the Cleveland, Tenn., police department is on administrative leave on allegations that he violated the department's drug use policy.

Department spokesman Evie West said Lt. Steve Tyson was suspended July 2 and an internal affairs investigation has begun. She said she could not discuss specific allegations against Tyson.

A department news release said the 10th Judicial District Attorney's Office has been told about the internal affairs probe and that the prosecutor's office will decide whether to charge Tyson with a crime.
