A Friday morning crash involving four vehicles killed two people and injured two others on Interstate 24 in North Georgia.

The Georgia State Patrol said a Ford Mustang was traveling west through Dade County shortly before 8 a.m. when it crossed the median into eastbound traffic near the Wildwood exit and collided with a Chevrolet Trailblazer before striking a Nissan Altima and a Jeep Patriot.

Audrey Bruneo, 52, of Kenosha, Wis., and Brooke Cole, 43, of Scottsboro, Ala., died in the crash, according to a news release.

Bruneo was driving the Ford. Cole was driving the Nissan.

Sandra Kay Chitwood, 50, of Trenton, Ga., and Belinda Griffith, 50, of Flat Rock, Ala., were the other drivers involved. Both were sent to Erlanger hospital with injuries.

An investigation into the accident continued Friday afternoon but authorities did say that Bruneo had a cellphone in her hand when they found her.

Eastbound traffic reopened around 2:30 p.m.
